Two high school sweethearts part ways when one makes the inevitable choice to be single at the beginning of their college careers. Carter is unsure about committing to Maggie, and tells her its best if they breakup now.

After they’ve both graduated from college Carter calls Maggie to tell her he’ll be in town and would like to reunite. They agree to meet half way at a train station. Maggie lives 20 miles from the destination and takes the train in. During the train ride she is overly anxious, and rather nervous as she doesn’t know what to expect. She spends ample time on the ride in a lucid daydream recounting the memories they shared.

Carter returns to tell Maggie that he was mistaken in breaking up and that all throughout college he only thought of his long lost love. Maggie was initially heart broken and saddened by the breakup but has realized that her feelings for Carter have not withstood the test time.

Maggie kept a necklace Carter had given her when they were dating. She has worn it everyday since it was given to her. At first it was a token of their relationship and it reminded her of all the good memories they were building and sharing. After the breakup she kept it as a reminder of the strength and character that one builds by the relationships they experience throughout life.

She takes off the necklace and places it in Carter’s hand at the train station.
