New Song “3” Goes to Radio September 29
New York, NY - In celebration of the 10th anniversary of her debut on the music scene, Jive Records is releasing Britney Spears The Singles Collection on November 24. To launch the special package a brand new single entitled “3,” which Britney recently recorded with hitmaker Max Martin, will go to radio Tuesday, September 29.
There will be two configurations of The Singles Collection; an ultimate fan box set and a standard version.
The ultimate fan box set version of The Singles Collection will contain all 29 of her singles, including the new song “3.” Each disc will be packaged in its own slip sleeve case with original artwork, and will include an additional b-side or a remix of the track. The collection will include a DVD featuring all of Britney’s videos in chronological order. The ultimate fan box set will also include a special booklet featuring iconic images and fun facts about each track.
The standard version of The Singles Collection will contain 17 of her chart topping favorites along with the new song “3,” all on one CD.
During her 10 year career, Britney has had 5 albums debut at the #1 spot on the Billboard Top 100 Album Chart, as well as 23 Top 40 hits on the Billboard Pop Singles Chart. Worldwide, Britney Spears is one of the top-selling artists of the last decade, constantly topping charts with her albums …Baby One More Time (1999); Oops!... I Did It Again (2000); Britney (2001); In The Zone (2003); Blackout (2007) and Circus (2008). Worldwide she has sold over 63 million albums.
Britney Spears is currently touring in support of her most recent studio album Circus. “The Circus Starring Britney Spears” tour which started in her home state of Louisiana in March 2009.

Sorry for sound bitter, but we already knew that like 2 months ago, its on amazon since august. Im very happy with a new song, but sincerely I expected more than a song and another GH album. SO this means NO DVD? NO new Tour Leg for December or 2010?
Well Britney is having a new album coming out in Spring 2010. So I think this is cool =] Im excited. I wanna hear this new song.
Mhm! Delighted to have a new cd and new songs!! But anyway, this was already known, so it wasn't THAT surprising... So, first we get a rehash of "Take a Bow" for the "Radar" video and now we get a copycat of a greatest hits package....wasn't one enough? This GHs album is going to sell like crazy and further solidify Britney's musical influence and sales dominance across the globe. The best part is that we get another Max Martin-produced song to serve as a gap-filler between now and the 2010 release of Brit's next studio album. You never know, "3" could very well be a massive hit that equals or surpasses the caliber of what was "...BOMT" in 1999. I am intrigued by the title ("3") and can't wait to hear it. It's a relief that we only have to wait 6 short days before it debuts. How this news did not leak (as everything has in the past) is beyond me, but it is nice, for once, to be truly surprised by exclusive, factual news!
Thank you, BRITannica, for all that you do. It is sad and unfortunate to read the comments of such unappreciative and disrespectful "fans" that take the services you offer (as a Britney spokesperson) for granted. Their personal attacks and whiney complaints are completely inappropriate and take away from the positive energy that news such as this means to promote. Ignore them and keep doing what I and many others consider to be an amazing job. I highly, highly doubt that any other person could be more effective in keeping us in-the-loop and up-to-date.

With all due respect, but is this the surprise?!
Wasn't there already a Greatest Hits Release few years ago? At least include some new songs or re-recording of these singles! I'm very sorry to say this because I love Britney's music, but I won't be paying for this collection.

This no surprize, almost everybody knew about the singles collection when you can pre-order it from Amazon.com. Sorry to say, I will not be paying money for old music as I like to spend money on new songs. It would have been nice if the surprize was actually a new album and not another greatest hits album or maybe a tour dvd or something of a surprize.
What you all need to understand is yes, we were aware of the collection being released, but we were NOT aware of the new single.
The new single is the exclusive part of this surprise, and the box set version of this release is also an exclusive detail.
This is more than a greatest hits album, this is Britney Spears memorabilia, and as fans, we should be grateful for it's release. I am extremely excited about it, and 10 years from now, I hope we get another awesome piece of memorabilia marking yet another decade of Queen B's reign over the pop music industry. x♥x♥

'cause the quality in My Prerogrative DVD is so GOOD. It's even better than the Womanizer DVD quality on the Circus DVD.
Getting the ultimate fan box one to get her videos and other singles that didn't make it to the first Greatest Hits. I hope they include Baby One More Time 2.0 or whatever it's called.
And guys - it's 10th Anniversary. I don't see why they wouldn't release something like this though I get why some are mad.

What can I say. I was really excited to get the text on my phone that said "Ready 4 the big n3ws?" But this news was already known. Wow I was suppose to go see Britney at the Staple Center tonight for my birthday but I am no longer in Los Angeles... I know I am gonna end up buying the album like I have all the others... But you shouldn't excite us fans with things we already know... For one thing that is why we are fans of Britney, we would already know this things before the world is actually informed about it. Really looking to hear the new song on Tuesday 29th though... Rock on.

Any news is better than no news, and I am grateful that, these days, the news involving Britney is overwhelmingly (if not 100%) positive! I don't like to think back on how bad things became in Britney's life only a very short time ago, but it is important to remember the hard times in order to appreciate the good times. Britney is a survivor, and I strongly admire her for overcoming the seemingly impossible obstacles that she was forced to face in order to be where she currently is today... in the center of the ring and back on top of the world!

It's kind of hard to keep anything a surprise these days. The new song is sick, and this is more than a Greatest Hits album — it's a collector's item! Personally as a Britney fan, I'm really excited about it, as are many fans.

Again: I expected more cause there was too much buzz. I am really a loyal fan and I love everything Britney does, I will definetely will buy the 2 editions as soon as available even if I dont live in the US, I will order it on amazon even if they're sold in my country, just cause I like to support US billboard ratings and keep our queen B as the number 1.
We already knew about the multi set box from an aussie Britney Blog..., But I didnt believe it in that moment (like 1 month ago) I read is already for preorder in some aussie online store (the multiset box) by $75,I know this is not official. My whole point is that why did you say "My surprise has not leaked, its more that you can imagine" thats why a good portion of the fan base has their feelings hurted.
I really expected a Latin American leg or even a second european leg for the ones of us who couldnt reach the tour, or at least a tour DVD.
I know this is not your fault Britannica.
The other Greatest hits was My Prerogative (which had new tracks on it). At least she has a bonafide reason to release a greatest hits album (even though it covers prior releases), unlike some artists that have had only one top album (even if they recorded other albums - they could almost re-release the earlier ones).
But the question still remains, is that all? Although the 3 was in the ode, it was written in a suggestive way too. (Wishful thinking, maybe. Again???) Although I did recently hear one song from the 1970's with a chorus that had an "odd" cadence, the verses were standard. (I don't remember the artist but it did feature a female singer, who's name I don't remember either) It was interesting (it was off of an oldies channel that was playing while I was riding to the store.) Mine are not limited in this way (and it has to be correct because I always start drums first, I tried to refrain from discussing me here.)
I take it back what I said earlier, we just kinda expect a lot... but at the end, Britney has being releasing one album a year, gone on tour and come back for a second US leg, and even make other appearances after being out of the business for a while, I'm thankful, and this hater comments are just part of the passion we all have for Britney, that makes us want a piece of her, and we expect her to give us more, even when she's given us a lot, but still she's on our radar, 'cuz we keep seeking her, all our eyes on her. Anyways BRITtanica I think you do a wonderful job and you're only allowed to do so much and I understand, hope nobody is stressing you out with hater comments, what do they expect? They have had a lot of BRITNEY celebrity juice lately wtf. hehehehehe

Singles box set with ONE new song ?!?!?! Seriously...what's the point? No doubt most britney fans out there already have all her albums. And it's easy enough to create a 'singles' playlist on itunes...

You'd think there'd be less whining. I mean real Britney fans should be happy that they're getting SOMETHING even if it is a Greatest Hit. Even though I wasn't surprised about the Greatest Hits, I'm still excited about it and I can't wait to get the ultimate Box set. It's a great chance to watch the videos and enjoy the music that help put this amazing young woman on the map! And let's not forget that this girl has been working her butt of since Baby One More time. Almost all of her albums have been a year apart and all the tours and all of that. Did any of you think that maybe she wants to take a little breather before she starts working on a new album? Or maybe that she's earned a right to take a little breather? She's also got children that I'm sure she'd like to spend more time with--and they deserve her attention more than we do.
I'm not trying to be rude, I just think we should all be more grateful for what we've got and wait patiently for the new album. Whining isn't going to make it come any faster. Lol.

I have to say that i´m very disapointed with Britney and all Britney Team (Specially you BRITtanica). I think that in the last months Britney Team are not respecting fans at all!!!!!
And dont say that you think about us, you think about money... First, i dont understand why you ask questions, when you dont care about our answers. It was obvious that it was going to be about the singles collection, and I still hope the tour DVD is still on.
Every fan should be excited and supportive of this. This single called 3 has to be a major hit, it sounds awesome but we'll have to wait 5 days. I'm sad cuz that's it for Circus cuz it had so many, great and amazing songs that weren't released.

I was only trying to explain how this news it bigger than you all can see. This is a piece of history marking a decade of music ruled by Britney, and we as fans should be congratulating her for still going fierce after all these years and all that she's been through.
I apologize if I came off as "looking for attention", because on some level I guess I was. However, the attention I sought was positivity amidst all the insults and negativity thrown at BRITannica for sharing such good news with us. She is completely undeserving of what some of these "fans" are saying about her. I thank her for everything she posts because she is taking time out of her life to dedicate a blog to both Britney and her fans. It's very rare for a record label to allow an official site to communicate so strongly with the fanbase, and for BRITannica to obtain that responsibility and really include us in this, for lack of a better term, AMAZING online community, she deserves every thanks I give her, and more.
If you don't see the significance in her job here, or in this critical event in Britney's life, crowning her a true icon, then I honestly would not call you a fan. I understand that this isn't what you were expecting, but at this point you really should understand that there was nothing there to tell you what to expect in the first place. All we were told was that there was a big surprise, and that it involved Britney and her music. Guess what, that is exactly what this surprise turned out to be. And being selfish and spoiled is not going to change it. Just realize that this is a checkpoint for Queen B, and this journey has yet to even see the finish line. Let's save all the expectations for the many years to come shall we? x♥x♥
