Touring is 'old hat'

In 'my little town' of Metuchen, NJ, the Forum Theater (a former vaudeville house, then moviehouse, then musical stage presenter) is currently available for rent. Verizon's switching office is about a quarter mile away for ready installation of T-1 fiber optic connector line and servers.

No reason a superstar couldn't purchase or rent the facility for a streaming internet channel with periodic pay-per-view live concerts, in-theater tickets sold the old-fashioned way~AT THE BOX OFFICE, ONLY to minimize rip-off ticket brokers seeking to monopolize venue access.

Abandoned or under-utilized theater facilities near downtowns and phone company switch centers are all over the USA. I'd think it possible to get hold of many of these just to establish the T-1 lines out to the internet with streaming internet concerts taking place near superstar's home base, the theater facility being a 'relay station'.

The days when performers must 'run themselves ragged' to reach out to the fanbase are past-due to 'sunset'.

3/29/08 Wall Street Journal 'D' section article by arts critic Terry Teachout, 'The Metropolitan Opera Goes to the Movies And a Skeptic Finds Himself won Over by the Experience' confirms technological feasibility of what's urged here.

Stageshow DVD excerpts assembled by ObiWan1947 on YouTube also evidence captivating intimacy that can be achieved with artful camerawork.

Well its an ok one off idea but it's like watching a theatre production and a dvd, totally different experiences.

It's Britters Biach

honestly, I hope not, and I don't think so. It would be very hard for any fan from outside the US to actually SEE her (or any other performer) LIVE, and that's no good. So, don't think this option will make real tours dissappear Eye-wink !
