My Favorite Mouse

I've opined previously~much of 'Blackout' CD ('Piece of Me' particularly) constitutes a refined update of forgotten art~novelty records~why Jive couldn't cope, abandoning promotion. One cut that didn't make it, 'Come and Get Me', a 'bootleg single' (studio outtake posted on YouTube) confirms my thinking. It's an ingeniously constructed demonic work, perhaps pre-conceptual composition to 'Piece of Me' (evidently product of same collaboration). I've long suspected that spirit of Spike Jones (song parodist) hovered over the CD's progenitors. 'Dr. Demento' bailed out of radio way too soon.

The 'mousified' ('Alvin and the Chipmunks' effect) shadow vocal (presumably Britney~'young smokey') variously intoning 'shake it up, girl, shake it...shake it like it's Tropicana (OJ or casino?) or 'traffic jamma'...shake it up girl, shake it like you saw the camera'...in contrast to the primary vocal which sounds 'femalian' at normal speed but turns male when run on slow, depicts an intense club-scene driven 'cat and mouse game'. When heard straight up with both voices in female register, Britney plays both roles, hunter and hunted, inescapably luring us into the midst of this scenario (which could inspire unimaginably inventive videos)~master temptress on the loose. Kudos to the whole crew!

Demonstrates the utter folly of album compilations as pop music marketing strategy.
