Lynne Spears has been praising her ex-husband, Jamie, for the way he has been helping out their daughter, Britney, according to a new report.

"Jamie had to change his whole routine," a family friend told People. "Lynne sings his praises. He has been such a rock. He has stepped up to the plate."

One reason Lynne is so pleased with what Jamie has done, is because her ex has managed to surrounded Britney with good influences.

"He's gathered a team of reputable people who are around [Britney] now," the source said. "She's not well, but for the first time in a long time she has people around her who really care about her."

Lynne is also pleased that Britney finally reunited with her children - Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1.

"Lynne talked to Jamie, and he said it was a good visit," the source said. "[Britney] slipped into that motherly mode. They picked up right where they left off. She still has a long way to go [to get better], but that's what we hope and pray for… Lynne and Jamie want their child to be whole again."

As for Lynne, she is still having a hard time with coping with what has been happening to Britney.

"She's up and down. It's a roller coaster ride as a mother," the source said.
