Kein Popstar sorgte in den vergangenen Jahren weltweit für mehr Schlagzeilen als Britney Spears. Doch trotz aller privater Schicksalsschläge, trotz aller Skandale und Räuberpistolen, die die Medien in den vergangenen Monaten nahezu tagtäglich beschäftigten, gelang es der 26-jährigen Sängerin, ihre Musikkarriere weiterhin erfolgreich zu gestalten - und das mehr denn je. Nachdem sie im vergangenen Jahr mit ihrem Album „Blackout“ einen weiteren internationalen Millionseller (inklusive dreier Hitsingles) veröffentlicht hatte, gelang dem US-Superstar mit „Womanizer“, der ersten Auskopplung aus ihrem neuen Album „Circus“, prompt der Sprung auf Platz eins der US Billboard Charts und direkt #5 in den Austria Top40 Charts. Mit dem sechsten Studioalbum ihrer Karriere macht sich Britney Spears in diesem Jahr selbst das schönste Geburtstagsgeschenk: In den USA erschien „Circus“ am 2. Dezember 2008 und damit just an ihrem 27. Ehrentag. Fans in Österreich hatten (dank unterschiedlicher Veröffentlichungs-Wochentage) sogar einen Vorsprung: Hierzulande war der Follow-Up zu „Blackout“ bereits ab dem 28. November erhältlich. „Circus“ entstand wie bereits „Blackout“ in Zusammenarbeit mit einigen der erfolgreichsten Produzenten und Songwriter unserer Tage, darunter Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Danja, Bloodshy & Avant und Guy Sigsworth. Der US-Nummer-Eins-Hit „Womanizer“, der sich in Deutschland zum größten Spears-Hit seit vier Jahren entwickelt, stammt von dem aus Atlanta stammenden Produktions-Team The Outsyders.
